Playing With Crowd Brushes
I work primarily in Clip Studio Paint, and there’s a way to use individual shapes as brush tips. I sketched some charcoal gestures of people as you’d see about a city—-an old man with a walker, three kids running around, a fashionable couple—-and saved them as brush tips (10 in total seen here). From there I started playing around with how various stylus settings (pen pressure, tilt, line direction) mapped to visual outputs (size, shape, opacity, color) and had a lot of fun with the process. There’s a few narratives in there, some I haven’t even discovered. Check it out below, and see what you find.
